New Work "Toy"

Well, I had been thinking about buying a netbook for a long while, and I finally did it!

Sort of.

I opted for a Chromebook instead.

Everything is online. I like that. I'm fairly paranoid about losing things I have recorded digitally from spillage or droppage or Pete-created carnage. I like the cloud storage.

Just look at him eyeing it. "I'm going to destroy that once I get my chompers on it!"

So far, I have recorded one work in Google Docs. I have never used Docs before, and I really like how it saves things automatically and tracks the changes. There are probably lots of other nifty features I haven't discovered yet.

One of the niftiest feature so far is the battery life indicator. (Edit: I think I was confused about this earlier. It tells you how much time you have left, which I guess is pretty standard. EXCEPT IT IS FAIRLY ACCURATE! What's that, laptop? You can't help you are over an hour off on your estimates? Well, then...)

Also, my background is Easter Island. How cool is that?

Moving on...

The keyboard is small, but it didn't take any time at all to adjust to it since I'm very used to laptop keyboards.

I'm still in the excited phase about my new toy that I plan on actually using for work.

Hobby work.

Writing work.

Work that I hope will eventually result in a book or anthology.

Even though poetry doesn't "sell."

I wrote today. Really wrote.

That makes it worth it already.

Now, then, I'm off to digitize some old (and I mean old) pieces so I don't have to worry about my enormous storage container of spirals and journals spontaneously combusting.

Knitting. On TV!

I came home a little earlier than normal, and when I turned on the TV for background noise while I knitted...

Knitting was on TV!

Maybe I'm sheltered in some weird way, but I've never seen knitting on TV.

Yes, it was public television. I must have had an animal show on for Pete last time. (He actually watches and sometimes growls. It makes me giggle.)

But woohoo!

Apparently I'm behind on this. (When am I not?)

Knitting Daily TV is already on their 10th season!

I am normally driving home from work during their show, and it doesn't look like it airs that often on our public television channel, but I'm really glad I managed to find another knitting resource since I'm normally in my own little knitting world.

Between Ravelry, YouTube, Knitting Daily, and our new local yarn store, I should be in knitting heaven!

Another Project

I knew it wouldn't last long!

I now have another project on the needles.

It's another little blanket.

I'm making a Patchwork Blanket (Ravelry Pattern Page). It's another knit from the 60 Quick Baby Knits book I bought a few weeks ago.

I'm using Caron Simply Soft Solids in Pistachio 0003 (main color), Ocean 9759 (color A), and Lt Country Peach 9737 (color B).

I've been working on it for three days, and I have three squares.

The squares are 6" x 6", and they're pretty quick to knit.

Don't worry, I'm still working on the bring-it-on blanket.

See?

I'm on the second color! I have about four inches of green now. Whee!

Recently, I've been coming home from work, playing frisbee with the dog, doing a few chores, then turning on Netflix and sitting down to knit.

TV knitting is the most productive TV watching I've ever done.
