I need a nap!

Someone posted this on a forum where I lurk occasionally.

I'm really sleep-deprived today, and I laughed for way too long at this.

Ah, but I do love grammar jokes.

Dang birds!

I checked on my tomatoes yesterday morning, and they were beautiful!

I decided to leave them on the vine for harvesting last night, and what did I find?

BIRDS!

They got to my tomatoes.

I guess I learned my lesson. No more leaving tomatoes all day to get even redder. I'm going to pick them and leave them in the window if they need to ripen any more.

Stupid birds. You have a whole feeder full of seed clear across the yard

Grumble grumble grumble....

Drop Stitch Cowl and LYS Yarn Haul

A while back, and I mean a while back, I started on a Drop Stitch Scarf by Christine Vogel (ravelry link to free pattern).

It's a really cute pattern! The only problem is, well, I hate scarves. I mean, I like them, but they are so boring to knit.

Maybe I just knitted too many scarves when I first learned to knit?

Anyway, I turned it into a cowl!

The yarn is an Araucania yarn - Elqui Multy, I think. I've had it forever! I mean, since just before or just after Chris and I got married. So, almost three years. My cousin Samantha and I went to a LYS together when she was still in undergrad. It's cotton, and it's really pretty! It's just really splitty. (Is that a word? No red squiggles means it's a word, right? It's a weird word...)

It could be the needles. I wasn't as conscious about needle choice when I started this pattern.

I ended up picking up stitches just above the cast-on edge and doing a three-needle bind-off to make the cowl. It looks pretty good, but if I decided to do it again, I'd just use a provisional cast-on and kitchener stitch to connect the ends.

Also, Danielle and I went to our LYS today! I hadn't been by in a while. A long while. And they're having a potluck lunch this Friday! I think they do that the last Friday of the month or so. I always forget about them.

Here's my haul!

Three skeins of Lanaloft Worsted in Buoyant Blue, Mulling Spice, and Scottish Hillside.

Are the colors familiar to you? These are more wearable versions of the bright turquoise, green, and orange that I have been using to liven up the front bedroom. (I couldn't find a yellow I liked, so no yellow.)

The plan right now is to use them in a linen stitch cowl, switching colors every row.
